- Remove bandage in about one hour. DO NOT REBANDAGE
- With clean hands, using fingertips only, wash your tattoo thoroughly with a mild soap to remove all blood and secretions . DO NOT SOAK tattoo in water!!! Shower quick in and out. NO TANNING BEDS or sun till tattoo is healed!!!
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel or clean wash cloth.
- Use a small amount of petroleum jelly (buy a fresh tub and do not share) and apply a very thin layer to your tattoo, as if it were hand lotion.
- Your tattoo will be oozie for the first couple of days. Don’t panic, that is perfectly normal.
***If your tattoo gets oozie, blot with a clean paper towel. It should leave enough petroleum jelly behind for your tattoo. If not apply a small amount and run it in like hand lotion. DO NOT LET YOUR TATTOO DRY OUT.
- Repeat steps 2-4 three to five times daily for the next 5 days.
- Your tattoo should MOIST, not oozie nor dry. Dry tattoos scab over and tend to lose color. Over saturated tattoos break out in rashes and bumps which also effects the healing process.
- When your tattoo begins to flake off switch to a fragrance-free hand lotion or a creamy petroleum jelly (brand doesn’t matter) and continue for a few weeks, or until your skin is back to normal.
*** Remember: MOIST!!! If your tattoo is dry then you aren’t taking care of it. If you want your tattoo to keep lookin’ like pimp shit then take care of it!!!
- If your tattoo scabs up DO NOT scratch it!!! You will put out color when you pick off scabs.
- If it itches, DO NOT scratch it!!! Slap it lightly or put a little fragrance-free hand lotion on it.
- Take care of your tattoo. Touch ups are not free!! If you take care of your tattoo properly, it will heal properly and you will not need a touch up.
